Career History

2011
Races in first eight rounds for HRT, before standing aside for Red Bull protege Daniel Ricciardo. Makes one-off race return for home Grand Prix in India ahead of full-time 2012 comeback.
2010
Has little success in NASCAR Camping World Truck series, but Superleague outings
prove more fruitful, including a victory at Brands Hatch.
2009
Races in Le Mans Series for Kolles team, finishing seventh in the famous 24-hour endurance event.
2008
Competes again for India in A1GP series, with a best finish of second place at Brands Hatch.
2007
Formula One test driver for Williams. Scores two wins and one pole position in A1GP series for India.
2006
Formula One test driver for Williams. Competes in A1GP series for India.
2005
Debut Formula One season with Jordan achieving a best result of fourth place at the infamous ‘Bridgestone-only’ US Grand Prix.
2004
Competes in Formula Nissan World Series with Carlin Motorsport and the FIA GT Championship.
2003
Competes in Formula Nissan World Series with Carlin Motorsport. Undertakes aFormula One test with Minardi.
2002
Competes in Formula Nissan World Series with Team Tata RC Motorsport.
2001
Becomes the first Indian to test a Formula One car, with Jaguar at Silverstoneand goes on to do additional Formula One tests with Jordan at Silverstone and Mugello. Competes in the Formula Nippon championship.
2000
Achieves fourth place overall in the British Formula Three championship with one lap
record, a pole at the Macau Grand Prix, wins at Spa and in the Korea F3
Super Prix.
1999
Finishes sixth overall  in the British Formula Three championship with Carlin Motorsport,
taking two wins, two pole positions, three fastest laps and two lap
records. Qualifies sixth and finishes the second leg of the Macau Grand
Prix in sixth place.
1998
Competes in the British Formula Three series with Carlin Motorsport for eight races with two third place finishes, at Spa and Silverstone.
1997
Finishes sixth in the British Formula Opel Championship.
1996
Wins the Formula Asia championship with a host of records. Becomes the only
Indian and only Asian to win the Formula Asia International series.
1995
Enters four races in the Formula Asia series, taking a second place at Shah Alam in Malaysia.
1994
Competes in Formula Ford becoming the first Indian to win the British Formula Ford Winter series and takes a podium at the Portuguese Grand Prix support race at
Estoril.
1993
Competes in Formula Maruti and Formula Vauxhall Junior championship.
1992
He graduates from ELF Winfield Racing School in France and wins his debut race in Pilote Elf Competition for Formula Renault.
